My story

Born in the '90s in White Rock, I'm the youngest of three, with two older brothers who reluctantly attended my many choir shows, dance recitals, and theatre performances. More willingly, they indulged in my baked creations. My early introduction to baking was thanks to my mum, likely due to our British heritage, and of course, my easy bake oven.

I developed a passion for baking, especially crafting birthday cakes. I feel there is something magical about celebrating the lives of others, celebrating with food, singing, lighting a bunch of things on fire and making wishes. All at once.

Though I initially dreamt of becoming a triple-threat superstar, I ended up earning a marketing degree (same same, right?). After trying various jobs that didn't quite fit, I finally embraced my passion for baking and enrolled in French pastry school (fame seemed unobtainable). I said goodbye to my job, completed my training at George Brown, and even spent a semester in France, savoring more croissants and cheese than one person should.

Somewhere along this journey, around 2019, I relocated to Rossland, fell in love with this town (and a boy, ugh), and decided to make it my home. Following my pastry school graduation, I returned to Rossland, where Bakeful gradually came to life. So, here I amā€”Brie, the creator of Bakeful.

  • I kindly request 1-2 weeks' notice for regular orders and 4 weeks for events.

  • While I don't offer delivery, pickup is in downtown Rossland. I will give exact location.

  • I can create gluten-free cakes for an additional fee. I don't make vegan cakes, but I do provide nut-free options. Please note the kitchen is NOT nut free.

  • If you want your cake to include some inspiration revolving around an event, please write it in the order note and it can be worked into the decoration.ā€™

  • The cakes displayed on this website are just examples of designs/my style. Each cake will be decorated uniquely.

Ingredients and sustainability

I care a lot about reducing food waste, using local ingredients where I can, and general sustainability. I learnt a lot about this in a class called Slow Food in culinary school. I also learned how expensive it is to use 100% local products, which would hike my prices up to the moon. As a new business, Iā€™m not in the position to source all my ingredients locally, but I am committed to incorporating things along the way, and being mindful of my waste and packaging.
